We conducted a series of successful events to raise additional funds for DFMC over the last couple of weeks:
On February 8th, Kay and I conducted "If Looks Could Cure" at Salon Acote! We were expecting approximately 40 people to participate in our event, but the final number was closer to 80 attendees! People got their haircuts on Newbury Street, and we provided refreshments. Salon Acote donated its venue and its stylists, and the event was extremely successful, raising almost two thousand dollars!
On February 11th, I conducted a deep water running session at the Evelyn Kirrane Aquatics Center. The pool was generously donated at no cost to us! Jack Fultz volunteered to coach the session, and we had approximately twenty attendees. The session raised almost five hundred dollars, and everyone had a great time! We also surprised Jack with a cake, wishing him a happy 2:11 on February 11th in honor of his personal best!
On February 18th, Kay and I conducted the Skate to Freeze Cancer 2 at The Skating Club of Boston. The skating club generously provided the arena and skate rentals, and Mickey and Minnie Mouse (and other stars from Disney on Ice presents Worlds of Fantasy) joined us! We encountered a snowstorm during the evening of the skate-a-thon, so we had several cancellations at the last minute. Still, we raised over $2K for Dana-Farber! Following the skate-a-thon, Mickey and Minnie visited kids at The Jimmy Fund Clinic!
Thank you to everyone who participated in our fundraising events! We are thrilled with the results of our hard work, and we are already planning our next round of events including another potential cut-a-thon in May and a skate-a-thon in April. I'm almost up to the halfway point with my fundraising!
